What is SCLAREOLATE®?
SCLAREOLATE® is a chiral synthetic ester, designed to reproduce and enhance the natural aromatic profile of clary sage, combining floral-linalool freshness with subtle white floral elegance. Its IUPAC structure places it chemically near terpenoid esters, but its olfactory behavior is softer and more persistent than traditional linalool derivatives.
Thanks to its sterically hindered structure, it shows high oxidative and thermal stability, making it especially suitable for long-lasting top-to-heart effects in both fine fragrance and functional bases.
Olfactory Profile & Perfumery Applications
👃🏼 Scent Breakdown:
Top: Clean floral-linalool, fresh sage nuance
Heart: White floral clarity, mild sweetness
Drydown: Linear, tenacious, non-fatty
⚗️ Functional Roles:
Acts as a linalool alternative with enhanced performance
Adds lift and cleanness in citrus, lavender, and fougère formats
Supports white florals (e.g. jasmine, magnolia) without overt sweetness
Compatible with musk and ozone bases for laundry-like freshness
🧪 Dosage Behavior:
Low concentrations: Refines heart/top transitions
High concentrations: Reinforces brightness and radiance
Can replace or modulate Dihydromyrcenol, Coranol, or Linalyl acetate
Industrial & Technical Uses
Fine fragrance: White floral, green aromatic, sage-woody structures
Functional perfumery: Detergent-safe, stable in soaps, fabric softeners, and deodorants
Stability: High stability in alkaline systems and heat exposure
Non-reactive profile: No discoloration, low volatility loss over time
